Set around the picturesque Naini Lake, at an altitude of 1938 m in a valley of the Gagar Range in Central Himalayas lies Nainital, one of the loveliest Hill Stations of India. The milky white snow capped peaks, green lush valleys, velvety rolling meadows and a picture perfect lake, make Nainital a perfect holiday haunt for all nature lovers. Once this area was dotted with many lakes and it was called the City of 60 lakes or 'Chakta'. Most of the lakes have disappeared today but the beautiful Naini Lake, around which the life of Nainital revolves. The lake is the greatest attraction in the town flowing on the base of rising peaks Cheena, Laria-Kanta, Deo-patha, Snow view and others. The enchanting images of the snow-white peaks reflected in the glittering blue waters of the lake are sure to leave the viewer spellbound.

Major Attractions
Naini Lake: Naini Lake or Naini Taal is the greatest attraction in the Nainital. The glittering blue green lake offers the beautiful images of the snow-white peaks that never fail to mesmerize its viewers.

Naina Devi Temple: A temple dedicated to Sati Naina Devi. The temple is built on the northern side of the famous Naini Lake.

Snow View Point: About 3 km from Nainital, it is located at a height of 2,270 meter above sea level. Snow view is one of the most visited tourist spots of the town. The point is ideal for trekking and is accessible by the ropeway or the ponies.

China Peak: The highest peak of Nainital at an altitude of 2,611m, China Peak provides a breathtaking view of the hill town and the majestic Himalayan ranges. Situated about 6 km from Nainital, the peak is quite famous with trekkers and known for its challenging trekking routes.

Tiffin Top: Located at an altitude of 2,290 m, Tiffin top is a short trek of about 3 km from Nainital and offers an enchanting view of the Himalayas and the town.

View Point: One of the most beautiful tourist spot around Nainital, View Point is situated at an altitude of 2,300 m. The point provides amazingly beautiful view of majestic Himalayan ranges and lower verdant ridges. It is an ideal spot to spend some time in solitude.



Astronomical Observatory: Situated at an altitude of 1,951 m, the Observatory is about 4.5 km from Nainital. Famous for astronomical studies, the observatory is open to public during working days at afternoons. During moonlit nights you can enjoy stars gazing with prior permission.

Excursions from Nainital
Bhimtal: Locate at an altitude of 1371 m and at a distance of about 22 km from Nainital, Bhimtal is the largest lake around Nainital. Set in a beautiful valley, it is surrounded by a picturesque small island.

Ranikhet: Ranikhet is another beautiful hill resort in the area at about 63 km from Nainital. The beautiful orchards, pine trees, the temples and numerous adventurous spots make Ranikhet a tourist's delight.

Besides, Nainital offers a variety of recreations to its visitors. Horse riding is the most favorite recreation for tourists. You can go around the town riding the horse. Nainital also has some of the best trekking routes of the Himalayas. You can enjoy trekking, skiing, mountaineering and mountain biking and many more adventurous recreations on your visit to Nainital.

How to Reach
By Air: The nearest airport Pantnagar at about 71 km from Nainital. Vayudoot operates daily flights from Delhi to Nainital.

By Rail: The nearest broad-gauge railhead is Kathgodam at a distance of 35 Km from town. Nainital is well connected by rail to Delhi, Agra and Lucknow.

By Road: Nainital has a good network of all-weather roads. The town is well connected by road with Delhi (322 Km), Lucknow (388 Km) and other major cities and towns in the region.
