Uttar Pradesh has some of the ancient and sacred temples of India. From ancient times these temples have provided the healing touch to the distressed devotees. The devotees from all over India come and offer puja out of their blind faith. Devotees throng to these temples to get the blessings of the deities and the deities oblige by fulfilling their wishes.

 

Uttar Pradesh is one of the most culturally vivacious states in India. This state has a rich history, which is enthralling to each and everyone. The state has a glorious past of which it is very proud. The state has a special place and regarded as a very sacred place for the Hindus. Uttar Pradesh is the birthplace of two of the most popular deities of Hinduism, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. Apart from that Varanasi, which is a famous town in UP, is regarded as home of Lord Shiva, one of the trimurty.

 

In that case it is not surprising that the state boasts off some of the most popular and beautiful temples of India. The most notable in terms of temples is Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The main temple is known as Krishna Janam-bhoomi. It is popularly believed that the temple is built at the same site where Lord Krishna was born. The temple at Vrindavan and Nandgaon are worth visiting too.

Varanasi, the city of eternal peace and salvation, is also famous for its numerous ghats, alleys and temples. The most notable among these is the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple. The temple is situated in a narrow alley and is flocked by scores every day. Another temple that is worth a visit in Kashi is Sankat Mochan temple. This temple is dedicated to Hindu deity Hanuman. Bharat Mata Mandir in Varanasi also attracts a lot of visitors. In Varanasi there are various other temples that are worth visiting.

 

Hindus all over the world consider the clusters of temples in the  city of Ayodhya very sacred. Though the site has attracted lot of controversies and bloodbath in the past, it is hot favorite among the pilgrims in India. There are other important temples too such as the one dedicated to Ganges at Gadh Mukteshwar and other at Chitrakoot.

 

The important temples of Uttar Pradesh state in North India are as follows:
Vishwanath Temple, Vindhyanchal Temple, Sarnath Temple, Baldeva Dauji Temple, Banke Bihari Temple, Ram Janmabhoomi, Rishabh Deo temple, Augharnath Mandir, etc. are some of the significant one.

 

Hanuman Garhi
The Hanuman Garhi is a massive structure in the shape of afour-sided fort.

 

Nageshwarnath Temple
It is believed that the younger son of Lord Rama, Raja Kush hadbuilt the temple.

 

Mathakaut Temple
The statue of Lord Buddha in this temple represents Lord Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree in a `Bhumi Sparsa Mudra`.

 

Dwarkadhish Temple
Images of Lord Krishna, his beloved Radha, and other Hindu deities are exhibited in the interior of the temple.

 

Mulgandha Kuti Vihar
The beautiful and enchanting murals and frescoes have rich repositories of the Buddhist Literature.

 

Nirvana Temple
It is believed that the very last moment of Lord Buddha is represented in this statue.

 

Bharat Mata Mandir
This temple is entirely dedicated to the human revelation of India popularly called the Bharat Mata in Hindi or Mother India.

 

Kashi Vishwanath Temple
Situated in the holy city of Varanasi, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.

 

Durga Temple
In this temple Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Shakti, signifying the female element of Power and harmony in nature.

 

Sankat Mochan Temple
Literally, the word `Sankat Mochan` means `deliverer from troubles`.

 

Tulsi Manas Temple
The complex philosophies of the Ramayana are described in sheer simplicity of words in the walls of the temple.

 

Buddhist Temple
The historical city of Kushinagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh embodies three Buddhist Temples.

 

Japanese Temple
The Atago Isshin World Buddhist Cultural Association has erected this temple.

 

Watt Thai Temple
This temple was erected to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of His Majesty King Bhumibol `s accession to the throne of Thailand.

 

Chinese Temple
The architecture of this temple is predominantly `Han Chinese`.
