Day 01 : Arrive Paro
Druk Airways flight to Bhutan is one of the most spectacular in entire Himalayas. Whether flying along the Himalayan range from Kathmandu or over the foothills from Kolkatta, each flight is a mesmerizing aeronautical feat and offers an exciting descent into the Kingdom.
On arrival at Paro airport, immigration and custom formalities and then received by our representative and transfer to the hotel. Evening take a stroll around town's main street. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 02 : Paro
Morning take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the father of the Bhutanese strain of Mahayana Buddhism, arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery. Taktsang was severely damaged by fire in year 1998 and now has been restored in its original grandeur.
After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum. The museum collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons and country's exquisite postage stamps. Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong situated at commanding height, overlooking Paro valley. This Dzong is symbolic as the religious and secular centre of all affairs of the valley. Evening visit a traditional farm house to get an idea on lifestyle of local people. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 03: Paro - Thimphu
After breakfast drive 55 km (approx 2 hrs) to Thimpu, the modern capital town of Bhutan. After checking into hotel proceed to day's sightseeing of Thimpu valley that includes visit to; National Library; it holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts, manuscripts, modern academic books and printing blocks for prayer flags.
Painting School; famous for traditional thangkha paintings. Traditional Medicine Institute; the rich herbal medicines abundant in Kingdom is prepared here. The institute also imparts the art of herbal medicines to would be practitioners.
Textile and Folk Heritage Museum (currently closed); the fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living traditions.
Memorial Chorten; the beautiful stupa built in the memory of Bhutan's third King. The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy. Trashichhodzong; the beautiful fortress/monastery which houses Secretariat building, King's Throne room and other government's offices. It is also the summer residence of Chief Abbot. Handicrafts Emporium; it displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products.
Day 4: Day excursion to Punakah (75 Km 2.1/2
Hours each way)
After breakfast drive to Punakha with a short stop at Dochula pass (3,050m) that heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan. Later visit to Punakha Dzong, the 17th century fortress which has played important role in building up of modern Bhutan followed by visit to local market. Then visit, Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, the newly built stupa. Evening back at Thimpu.
Day 05 : Thimphu - Phunetsholing (179 km,
6 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing enroute visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627, which now houses the School for Buddhist studies. Thimphu / Phunetsholing road was built in 1962 by Dantak, the Indian Border road organization. The drive on this route is very pleasant with numerous scenic spots enroute.
Just before, arriving Phunetsholing, visit Kharbandi Goemba, the monastery built in 1967. It houses the large and attractive statues of Sakyamuni, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche. Overnight at the hotel in Phunetsholing.
Day 6 : Phunetsholing - Darjelling ( by surface)
After breakfast drive to Darjelling. on arrival Phunetsholing border, our representative willl pickup you and drive to Darjelling. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 07 : Darjeeling
Early morning visit Tiger Hill and Ghoom Monastery. Toy Train Ride upto Ghoom & back by Jeeps (Subject to operation of this train & availability of the seats), after Lunch visit Tibetan Refugee Centre, HMI & Zoo. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 8 - Darjeeling - Pelling
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to the Pemyangtse. ( Pelling ) On same day depart for sight seeing, Pemyangtse Monastery, The Rabdentse palace ruins, Sangacheoling Monastery, Khecheopalri Lake & Sing shore Bridge. Overnight in at Hotel in Pelling.
Day 9 - Pelling - Gangtok
After Breakfast drive to Gangtok. Reach Gangtok and check in to Hotel. Enroute visit famous Rumtek Monasteries. Afternoon arrive Gangtok. proceed to visit famous monasteries, then visit Tibetology & Do Drul Chorten, & Cottage Industry. In Gangtok you can see a smooth blend of both tradition and modernity. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 10 - Gangtok
After breakfast, we proceed for full day excursion to Tshangu Lake and back. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 11 - Gangtok - Kalimpong
After Breakfast drive to Kalimpong. On arrival, check in to hotel, After noon city tour of Kalimpong, situated at an altitude of 1250 metres between the Deolo and Durbindra Hills, Kalimpong is an ideal place for a quiet holiday amidst gently rolling hills and deep valleys at the foot of the mighty Himalayas. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 12 - Kalimpong - Bagdogra - Kolkata
Leave Kalimpong for Bagdogra Airport by road. Leave Bagdogra by flight for Kolkata & connecting flight to onward destination
