Udaipur-
The "
City of Lakes" is perhaps one of the most romantic
and beautiful cities of india, it was founded by
Maharana Udai Singh
in 1559 AD on the shores of
Lake Pichola. It contrast to its desert
neighbourhood it stands out with an enchanting image of white marble
palaces, placid blue lakes, gardens, temples, surrounded by hills and
mountains. It is like an oasis of colour in a stark and arid region.

Udaipur is possibly the most romantic city in Rajasthan. There would be no

Half day tour to Eklingji and Nagda Temples
Eklingji - 22 km. Built in 734 AD, a complex enclosing 108 temples
with a flight of steps leading down to the water tank (Kund). The temples
are exquisitely carved out of sandstone and marble and are devoted to Lord
Shiva, the family deity of the
Mewar rulers. The sanctum sanctorum
has a four faced image of Lord Shiva.
Nagda
- 23 km. The first capital of
Bappa Rawal, the ancient place has a
magnificent torana or arch which is exquisitely carved. The tenth century
Sas Bahu temples dedicated to sas (mother -in-law) and bahu
(daughter-in-law) are rated among the best temples in India. There is a lake
surrounded by temples. The
Abudji Jain Temple is worth visiting.

Full day tour to Jaisamand Lake
Maharana Jai Singh built the second largest artificial lake in Asia
in 1685, 51 km from Udaipur. The lake has a 35 metres high dam with a length
of 366 metres.
It has maximum length of 9 miles and greatest width

6 miles and the approximate area is 21 Sq. miles, interspersed with islands,
some islands are inhabited by bhils, the local tribesman. Graceful marble
cenotaphs festoon the embankment and on either sides are summer palaces for
the kings favorite queens. The lake also attracts several species of
migratory birds.
Jaisamand wild life sanctuary is the home for
various species of animals.

Jain temple of Rishabdeoji

Jain Tirthankara is also known
Kesriyaji, because

Full day return trip to Kumbhalgarh
Kumbhalgarh Fort, 85 km. From Udaipur. Built amidst Aravallis in the
15th century by
Maharana Kumbha, it is the second most important
fort of Rajasthan after
Chittorgarh. Within the bastions fort are
many palaces with temples, which are of great antiquity and interest. The
important among them is "
Badal Mahal" or the cloud Palace
at the top, it offers a scenic view of the surrounding country side.
Kumbhalgarh
sanctuary, Situated in the lush green environs of Aravalli, the
Sanctuary is a safe haven for the rare species of animals struggling for
their survival. The fauna of the sanctuary includes wolf, leopard, jackal,
nilgai, sambar and variety of birds. It is equally well known for its
archaeological value.

Tour No. 09
Full day return trip to Ranakpur

90
km from udaipur, one of the most important jain temples is also known as
Chaumukha. It is dedicated to
Adhinathji and was built in
15th Century. The central
Temple Chamukha is a three storeyed
structure, with 29 halls, 80 domes and 1,444 pillars and no two pillars are
alike. Every pillar is most intricately carved, in fact every conceivable
surface is carved with equal delicacy.
The
graceful settings of pillars the admixture of domes of different heights
with flat ceilings, and the mode in which light is introduced, combine to
produce a magical effect, and speak volumes about the architectural
capabilities of the people of those days. There are four subsidiary shrines
with 80 spires supported by 420 columns. The entire temple is encircled with
corridor having
Tirthankara images.
A small shrine of lord
Parsvanath in front of the main temple has a
black image of the
Tirthankara in the inner sanctum. There is also a
surya temple dedicated to the sun god.

Tour No. 10
Two day trip to Mount Abu

The only hill resort of Rajasthan, crowning at the highest peak of the
Aravali at an altitude of 1220 metres. It is not only one of the prettiest
hill-station in the country, but a major Rajput and jain pilgrimage centre.
The legend goes that a yagna was performed here and four agnikula or
fire-born rajput clans the
Chauhans, Parmaras, Pratiharas and Solankis
were created out of the fire. Till the 11th Century,
Mount Abu was
an important
Vaishnav and shiva pilgrimage centre, but now it has
gained importance as a jain pilgrim centre.
