Maharaja's Palace
Located in the heart of the city The Maharaja's place is an imposing
structure built in the Indo-Saracenic style. It has ornate domes, archways,
turrets, sculptures and colonnades. The Durbar Hall is an extravagant piece
of art made up of beautiful carvings on glass ceiling, reflecting mirrors,
mosaic floors and wooden doors. Tourists can enjoy special illumination on
Sunday nights.
Amba Vilas Durbar Hall
The gorgeously decorated room is a masterpiece of luxury and riches. The
teakwood ceiling with intricate carving on precious stones such as Jasper,
Cornelian, lapislazuli are the high landmarks of artistic beauty. The doors
of silver, teakwood & rose wood are highly executed. This hall was a
place to celebrate investitures and birthdays. One of the loveliest new
buildings in India, the palace reminds the glorious past of the city.
Chamundi Hills
Chamundi Hills (13 Kms) could be approached by stairs and on the way
there's a huge statue of Nandi (bull) and at the top, the temple to Goddess
Chamundeswari. Chamundi hills are one of the favorite tourist destinations
in Karnataka since it is unique and has a story of its own.
Brindavan Gardens
Brindavan Gardens has the splendid watercourses bordering the world famous
terrace gardens. Musical fountains with light colored lights look vibrant
and fascinating at night.
Shopping:
Mysore is famous shopping destination for sandalwood products, oil and the
hand-woven silk sarees and garments. Main shopping spot is on Sayaji Rao
Road in the main city. Other traditional handicrafts available in Mysore are
rosewood, sandalwood, copper ware, stone and brass, wooden furniture,
sandalwood powder and perfumes and lacquer ware.
